In a recent initiative, one of India’s tyre manufacturing giants, Apollo Tyres has tied up with Tata Power to establish electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout India. The EV charging stations are supposed to be set up in about 150 retail outlets of Apollo Tyres’ commercial and passenger vehicle zones. These will cater to both the general public as well as customers.
Under the EZ Charge brand, Tata Power already possesses a large charging infrastructure at its disposal. They have set up DC001, AC, Type2, and fast DC chargers having capacity up to 50kWh all across the country. Their presence is in 200 cities with over 1,000 charging ports. The charging ports to be installed at Apollo Tyres’ commercial and passenger vehicle zones will support cars as well as two-wheelers. Also, they will be open 24*7 throughout the year.
According to the official press release, this collaboration would help both companies to accelerate their commitment to electric mobility. Tata Power, one of India’s biggest integrated power companies, have their commitment towards green mobility and to #DoGreen.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, was of the view that this partnership with Apollo Tyres reflects their commitment towards developing and making the electric ecosystem a big hit in the country.
Also speaking on the occasion was Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, Apollo Tyres Ltd. He lauded the fact that Apollo Tyres is working in the right direction towards fulfilling its commitments in promoting green mobility in India. He expressed his excitement for partnering with Tata Power and how they together can assure EV users of interrupted charging infrastructure at various locations.
Tata Power’s existing network of EV charging stations provides a seamless experience to EV users in malls, retail outlets, hotels, offices etc. Tata Power EZ Chargers’ ecosystem covers the entire value chain of Public chargers, Captive chargers, Bus/ Fleet chargers, and Home chargers. In addition to this, Tata Power has also created a dynamic software platform for EV users with the launch of its mobile application (Tata Power EZ charge) to give its customers the best possible electric mobility experience. This app facilitates users to not only locate EV charging stations but also pay bills too.
This partnership will pave the way for the rapid adoption of electric mobility in India.
