Now let’s delve deeper into what this car has to offer to Indian consumers

Interiors: In order to be prominent in the midsize SUV segment, which is very competitive in India, MG has packed Astor with the latest technology and loads of features. Astor boasts a stunning 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will be supported by a Jio e-SIM for connected car features. To follow voice commands and answer drivers’ queries, the car also has an AI-based personal assistant. In addition to this, Astor features heated OVRMs, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, panoramic sunroof, 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster among others. The stylish car will have three interior colour schemes on offer: dual-tone iconic ivory, tuxedo black and dual-tone sangria red.

The most appealing thing that this SUV has is its Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Because of this, Astor has lots of safety features such as Lane Departure Prevention, Speed Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist. These features are part of large size SUVs in India but MG Astor is going to be the first midsize SUV to offer these technologies.

Exterior: The SUV features a newly designed front. The Astor has slimmer full-LED headlamps when compared to the MG ZS EV. The bumpers are chunkier and the grille features chrome highlights. At the back, the SUV gets LED tail lamps which are sharper with new bumpers.

In terms of dimensions, the HG Astor is 4,323mm in length, 1,650mm in height and 1,809mm in width. These make this midsize SUV one of the biggest in its class.

Under the hood: The car will be available in two petrol engines. The base engine is a 1.5 litre that churns 110PS and 144 Nm mated with a 6-speed manual or an 8-step CVT automatic gearbox. The other engine variant is 1.3-litre turbo petrol churning 140PS and 220 Nm mated to 6-speed automatic gearbox.
